Compute RPC cleanup. The largest change of the week strips compute RPC 5.x compatibility from both the client and server endpoint, deleting roughly 1,500 lines of legacy wire-protocol handling from the compute service.
Instance naming and libvirt. The default instance_name_template was switched to use the instance UUID, and libvirt was taught to update the domain name during live migration so the hypervisor view tracks the new template. A companion API-side warning documents that instance_name is not a reliable identifier for callers.
Volume and quota fixes. Volume attachment pagination was fixed (and backported), the API no longer returns an empty attachment_id, and a KeyError: 'body' in the os-volumes_boot proxy was patched. On the quotas side, image data is now threaded into unified-limits checks for both initial boot and resize/restore paths, with a reproducer landed for the related bug. An evacuate race between the periodic task and task_state was also resolved, and Glance preferred-stores support landed for image uploads.
Testing and fixtures. A sizeable batch of fixture hygiene work isolated shared state across quota, vcpumodel, guestfs TCG, notifications-time and CastAsCallFixture tests, plus reproducers were committed for the trusted-cert bugs. CI consolidation aligned the environment across functional jobs, and .gitreview was updated for unmaintained/2025.1.
